Emotional landscapes are created through the digital manipulation of photographic images. Removing detail and adding color and line elicits an emotive imprint. At first glance the work appears to be the subject of neither a camera nor a computer the work has moved the work to a realm somewhere in between.
Creating this work is a way of documenting an inner life. Those features that appear commonplace as we occupy the everyday world are used as metaphors for the emotions ranging from innocence to bittersweet memory; they relate to objects common to many environments in our world, but speak to places inside us that hold a universal emotion in its symbolism.
Each piece threads together emotional aspects of life as reflected in the people, buildings, objects and decor.
