Oil and marks appear on streets and sweeping landscapes, and it brings me such intense joy to feel its breath on my brows. Few things in my life bring me as much simple, childlike happiness as to ply a photo lens.
Childhood and adolescence travelling back in and out of Latin America, and learning to settle and root in Dallas, Texas. Youthful exhuberance in Europe, and learning to be whole in Texas. Melancholic joy and Happy apathy. These are some of the emotional places I've tried to photograph.
Ok, I just sounded like a really pompous ass. But believe me when I tell you - art makes me wax nauseatingly poetic.
Let's face it, some of my work is not far from would I call 'crappy'. But I'll be darned if it doesn't move me to act on this passion. And who knows, maybe I'll get better at it over time. Or maybe I'll just always suck! :)

My work has received a smattering of exposure, most of which I hardly deserved. I'm trying to break the habit of isolation, but it's not always easy when one feels like every photo is an ugly birth-child. Each piece has chapters and its own verses.
Yes, I stopped in 2005. Marriage and a gorgeous little son kept me busy. Re-publishing is my way of dealing with divorce and re-defining my own life as a creative, and happy dad.

A breakdown of my own exposure to formal training in photography, art and design. I never intended to do this for a living. I attended university for a total of 5 years studying international affairs, political science and philosophy. I left university with 128 hours, discouraged by politics and overbearing student loans. I fell into design at HSU's University Press, and fell in love with digital design in 1993. I've never looked back, and am a testament to the fact that one's education and certification aren't necessarily the same.
